About Me

19 years in one home is a record for both Dave and I. Living in Strathcona County has been the best thing that ever happened to me. We Share our home with our Son Jack who is now sixteen and driving. Our Fur family consist of 2 big Newfoundland Dogs Milton and Brooke and two cats Boots and Nigel.

The County life style offers the balance of urban and rural, Big enough yet you know your neighbors.

I have had the great opportunity to volunteer in many capacities in and around the County. Milton and I enjoyed 7 happy years at Wye School. Where countless children read to Milton in the Library. Not sure who enjoyed it more. It still warms my heart to see a much bigger child race over and give Milton a hug and recall their time at Wye School.

Festival Place is a jewel in our midst. Have and continue to help organize “The Black and White” an annual fundraiser that funds the excellent children’s programing available to county residents. An example is “Under the Big Top” a Circus camp that is in its 5th year and wildly successful and unique to Strathcona County.

International Women’s Day events where started by one woman and two men. I had the privilege to serve on the committee for several years and was pleased to co-chair last year’s event. The week surrounding March 8th is now full of events celebrating women.

I am very proud of my work with Saffron. Even though I am no longer on the board I fully support their great work in our community. We are so very lucky to have one of only 3 sexual assault centres in Northern Alberta. Saffron also has a full time educator that works with children 5 and up to teach about boundaries, cyber bullying, and safe computer use.
